| HAMAM |  After a long day trekking or visiting one of the nice things to do is to relax in the hamam (Turkish bath). Urgup has a very good one situated in the town centre just off the town square, housed inside what was once a Greek church. You can appreciate the steamy warming atmosphere but also opt for the foam massage and scrubbing which leaves your skin soft and clean. Professionally run by Osman Tasar and his sons Kamil and Serif, this is an *experience not to be missed**. Saturdays are women-only days but the rest of the week it is open to both men and women which means that you can go as a family. A perfectly respectable address and an institution in Urgüp.

The show begins with a short, 10 minutes version of Whirling Dervishes Ceremony which will give you an idea about how it is. For the real, religious ceremony we suggest you attend the Whirling Dervishes Ceremony in the 13th century caravanserai. During the whole night, there will be live music performed by a traditional Turkish folk band. After the dervishes, folk dancers come in their local dresses and the dances start (fire dance, Caucasian knife dance, drum show ...).
The evening includes unlimited soft and alcholic drinks and a complete traditional Turkish meal. |
